C'River APC Chair Calls for Teamwork
By Ekanem Asuquo
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State, Hon. Chris Etta, has called on newly inaugurated local government chapter chairmen to embrace teamwork, uphold transparency and place party interest above personal loyalties as they assume office.
Etta made the call in Calabar during the inauguration of the party’s chapter chairmen, urging them to see their election as a mandate to serve rather than an opportunity to advance individual ambitions or the agenda of political sponsors.
He emphasized that as leaders at the grassroots, they must conduct themselves with integrity and remain accountable to party members in their respective council areas. According to him, their emergence reflects the confidence reposed in them by the party faithful, a trust they must protect.
“Your election is a call to duty, not to serve the interest of any godfather or to build personal influence. You must work as a team with your executives,” Etta said. “The party must always come first. Make yourselves accessible to your people and be responsive to their needs.”
The state chairman further urged the officials to commence work immediately in view of the demanding political calendar ahead of the 2027 general elections. He noted that preparations for the zonal congress and the national convention were already underway and would require strong grassroots coordination.
“There is no time to waste. You are expected to inaugurate your ward executives this weekend and report back to the secretariat by Monday,” he directed.
Responding on behalf of the chapter chairmen, Chief Kevin Ojong pledged loyalty to the party and its leadership. He assured members that the new officials were aware of the responsibility placed on them and were prepared to deliver on their mandate.
“We have been given a clear task and we understand what is expected of us. We will work for the growth and unity of the APC in Cross River,” Ojong said.
The inauguration comes shortly after the party elected a 35 member State Executive Committee to steer its affairs for the next four years, a development party leaders say signals renewed commitment to unity and organizational strength.
