Mass Defection Hits APC in Abini Community As Over 500 Defected to Opposition PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State seems to be gaining momentum inAbanwan-Erei community in Blaise local government area as over 500 All Progressives Congress (APC) members have Defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defectors were officially received during a visit by the PDP House of Representatives candidate, Barr. Bassey O. Bassey (BOB), and the PDP House of Assembly candidate, Pastor Hon. Obia Ikika.
Speaking during the reception, Barr. Bassey O. Bassey (BOB) commended the courage and political maturity demonstrated by the defectors, describing their decision as a bold and patriotic step towards genuine democratic renewal.
He assured the new members of equal recognition, active involvement, and full integration into the party's structures, while reiterating his unwavering commitment to championing the interests of the good people of his constituency at the National Assembly.*
Also speaking, Pastor Hon. Obia Ikika described the mass defection as a clear and unequivocal verdict by the people, rejecting failed leadership and embracing a party that has consistently prioritised the welfare, development, and aspirations of the citizenry.
He further pledged his total dedication to legislative excellence and grassroots development, should he be elected into the State House of Assembly.
In his remarks, the State Financial Secretary, Chris Edadi, Ph.D, commended the leadership and support of the entourage, led by House of Representative candidate, Barr. Bassey O. Bassey, and State House of Assembly candidate, Pastor Hon. Obia Ikika, alongside the Chapter Woman Leader, Mrs. Rose Stephen, the Chapter Chairman, the Ward Leader, and every other member of the team.
He noted that the success recorded was a direct result of teamwork, stressing that what had been achieved was made possible by the collective effort of all involved, calling for the sustenance of this spirit of unity and collaboration among members.
Edadi urged members to remain committed to teamwork as the party gears up for the general election, welcoming all the new members into its fold and assures them of a level playing field and equal opportunities.
