The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Senator Eteng Williams, has reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment to promoting stability, transparency, and investor confidence in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

This, he said , would be done through the effective implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.

Senator Williams stated this at the Project 1MMBOPD+: Capital, Capacity and Partnership Investment and Financing Forum, held in London, United Kingdom. The Forum is  from November 11–12, 2025.

The Project 1MMBOPD Additional Production Investment Forum is a strategic platform designed to unlock one million barrels of incremental oil production per day through innovation, collaboration, and reform.

The forum provides direct access to decision-makers, showcases bankable projects, and fosters cross-sector partnerships built on transparency, efficiency, and shared value.

Williams described the initiative as a “monumental stride” aimed at boosting Nigeria’s crude oil production and ensuring long-term energy sustainability.

He emphasised that achieving the nation’s target of an additional one million barrels per day requires strong partnerships between investors, operators, and regulators.

Commending the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) for convening the forum, the Senator said the Commission has created opportunities that connect operators and financiers to viable investments, partnerships, and innovative technologies that enhance production efficiency.

Dignitaries at the event include Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream); Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, OFR, Commission Chief Executive, NUPRC; Ademola Adeyemi Bero, Chairman, OPEC Board of Governors; Jason Jackson, Mayor of Islington; Jagir Baxi, Managing Director, ExxonMobil; and Roger Brown, Chief Executive Officer, SEPLAT Energy.
