Nigerian Canadian based real estate mogul and philanthropist, Princewill Ogban, has declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Akamkpa Biase Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
Ogban, a native of Etana in Erei North, Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State, said his decision followed wide consultations with key stakeholders who encouraged him to join the race.
He stated that the constituency requires quality leadership and effective representation that will unite the people and attract meaningful development.
According to him, the constituency needs “a leader who is non aligned, inclusive and committed to bringing everyone together while attracting development to the area.”
Ogban described himself as a team player with a longstanding involvement in Cross River politics and community development.
“I am not new to the political space in Cross River. I have consistently contributed to the empowerment of the less privileged and community development. If given the opportunity to represent my people in 2027, I will do more and ensure proper consultation and quality representation,” he said.
He called on members of the All Progressives Congress and other stakeholders to support his ambition during the party primaries.
“I urge party members and stakeholders to give me the opportunity to serve. I will not rest on my laurels. I will work with the state government to ensure that our constituency gets its fair share of development,” he added.
On the performance of Governor Bassey Otu, Ogban commended the administration for promoting peace and inclusive governance in the state.
He said, “The Governor has stabilised the political environment and reduced rancour. He has brought key political actors together, fostering unity and a sense of shared purpose.”
He also praised the administration’s infrastructural strides, noting that visible improvements across the state reflect purposeful leadership.
“To me, Calabar is working again, and the credit goes to Governor Otu. It will be difficult for any opposition to dislodge him because his achievements will speak for him,” he said.
Ogban further endorsed the governor for a second term, expressing confidence in the continuity of his policies and programmes.
