Mbora Quits PDP for ADC, Thanks Supporters for Loyalty

By Judex OKORO

A former member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Ntufam Eta Mbora, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party and joined the African Democratic Congress.

In a resignation letter dated March 2, 2026 and made available to THE BEAGLE NEWS, Mbora said his decision to leave the PDP followed what he described as an intractable crisis within the party.

He noted that the move was difficult but necessary under the prevailing circumstances.

“I remain eternally grateful to the PDP for the impactful mentoring and opportunities it offered me to serve my local government, state and country,” he said.

The former lawmaker, who also served as Municipal Council Chairman, expressed appreciation to his supporters for their loyalty over the years.

“I am also grateful to my supporters and team members who stood by me in the party,” he added.

Mbora has reportedly directed his supporters and associates to defect to the ADC in their respective wards and actively participate in the ongoing party registration and revalidation exercise to strengthen the party’s base.

Sources indicated that arrangements have been concluded to organise a rally and grand reception for the defectors in the coming days.

His defection comes amid a wave of political realignments in Cross River State, with former governor Liyel Imoke and former senator Gershom Bassey also recently joining the ADC, boosting the profile of the opposition party in the state.
