The Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, has congratulated the newly inaugurated State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State, describing their emergence as a reflection of unity and internal democracy within the party.
The state congress that produced the new leadership was widely regarded by stakeholders as peaceful and well organized. Delegates from across the state participated in the exercise, which drew the presence of party leaders, elected officials and grassroots representatives who affirmed their confidence in the process and its outcome.
At the conclusion of the congress, Rt. Hon. Christopher Etta, a former member of the House of Representatives, emerged as State Chairman alongside other members of the executive committee. The team has been entrusted with the responsibility of steering the affairs of the party and consolidating its structures across the state.
In a statement, Senator Williams commended party leaders and members for ensuring a smooth transition, noting that the successful conduct of the congress demonstrates political maturity and cohesion within the party fold. He urged the newly elected executives to justify the trust placed in them by working diligently to strengthen the party at ward, local government and state levels.
The lawmaker emphasized the need for inclusiveness and collaboration, encouraging the new leadership to carry all members along in order to sustain the party’s dominance and unity ahead of future political engagements.
Senator Williams also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Cross River State and leader of the party, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, for what he described as purposeful leadership and support throughout the process. He noted that the governor’s guidance contributed significantly to the emergence of a credible and capable executive team.
Political observers say the peaceful conduct of the congress and the broad acceptance of its outcome signal renewed confidence within the party’s rank and file, positioning it for greater cohesion and strategic engagement in the state’s political landscape.
