UNICAL VC CONSTITUTES ACADEMIC BOARD FOR ODL CENTRE
.... Appoints Prof. Stella as Board Chairman
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Offiong Efanga Offiong, has constituted the Academic Board of the Open and Distance Learning Centre (ODLC), in a move aimed at strengthening academic governance and the effective administration of the Centre.
This was conveyed in a letter signed by the University Registrar, Dr. Chukwuka I. Icha.
The newly constituted Academic Board, according to the letter, will be responsible for making decisions and recommendations on academic matters, students’ affairs, counselling, library and learning resources, material delivery, textbooks, training and capacity development, students’ assessment, as well as other academic issues relating to the Centre.
The Board, as conveyed by the letter, will be chaired by the Director of the Open and Distance Learning Centre, Prof. Stella Asibong Ansa, with the Deputy Director, Prof. Kevin Usman Anoh, serving alongside other members drawn from relevant academic and administrative units of the University.
Other members include the Dean of the Faculty of Administration and Management Sciences, Prof. Ezekiel Tom Ebitu; Head of Department, Business Management, Dr. Sunny Isaac Eneh; University Librarian, Prof. Aniebiet Ntui; Programme Coordinator, Dr. Hope Edodi; and Examination Officer, Dr. Stephen Magor Ellah. Dr. Amah E. Etim will also serve on the Board as the ODL Admin Secretary.
The University Management directed the newly constituted Academic Board to take the necessary steps towards its formal inauguration and ensure that its activities are conducted in accordance with the University’s statutes, regulations, policies and established academic procedures.
Management further assured the Centre of its continued support towards the effective operation and development of the ODLC.
