A diaspora based professional, Princewill Ogban, has declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency, promising to prioritise education, economic empowerment and infrastructure if elected.
Ogban, who spent nearly two decades in Canada, said he resigned from his position as a director in the Canadian federal government to pursue his political ambition and entrepreneurial interests.
Speaking during an engagement with journalists in Calabar, he criticised the performance of the incumbent lawmaker, stating that the constituency requires more responsive and impactful representation.
He identified education as a major focus of his agenda, unveiling plans for a scholarship scheme that will enable students from the constituency to study abroad, particularly in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Ogban also pledged to implement targeted empowerment programmes, including support for small scale entrepreneurs in the transportation sector through the provision of minibuses and tricycles under structured arrangements.
On infrastructure, he said his administration would prioritise the expansion of solar energy, rural electrification and access to basic amenities, drawing on his experience in the importation of solar systems.
Reflecting on his background, Ogban noted that his early life struggles shaped his commitment to social intervention, adding that he has consistently supported widows and vulnerable groups in his community.
He further assured constituents of an open and accountable leadership style, with emphasis on media engagement and regular performance evaluation.
Ogban expressed confidence in securing support for his ambition, stating that his experience and exposure position him to deliver effective representation for the people of Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency.
