Akamkpa LG Chairman Assents to 3 Executive Bye-Laws, Unveils New Logo

 

The chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Hon. Felix Akposi, has formally assented to three groundbreaking Executive Bye-Laws, marking a defining moment in the legislative and administrative evolution of the Council.

The laws include 

1. The Akamkpa Local Government Security Trust Fund and Other Related Matters Bye-Law, 2026

2. The Akamkpa Local Government Environmental Sanitation and Other Related Matters Bye-Law, 2026

3. The Akamkpa Local Government Logo and Other Related Matters Bye-Law, 2026.

The laws according to the chairman are aimed at strengthening governance, enhancing security, promoting environmental responsibility, and institutionalising the identity of Akamkpa Local Government Council.

Speaking shortly after appending his signature to the Bye-Laws, the Chairman described the event as a significant milestone in the collective quest to deepen democratic governance and accelerate sustainable development across the Local Government Area.

"Today marks another significant milestone in our collective efforts to strengthen governance and promote sustainable development in Akamkpa Local Government Area. It gives me great pleasure to formally assent to three important Bye-Laws passed by the Akamkpa Legislative Council," the Chairman said.

He explained that the Security Trust Fund Bye-Law would provide a structured framework for supporting security agencies and community-based security initiatives, thereby enhancing peace, stability, and investor confidence across the Local Government Area.

According to him, the Environmental Sanitation Bye-Law reinforces the administration's commitment to a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally sustainable Akamkpa, while the Local Government Logo Bye-Law confers legal recognition on the Council's official identity, preserving its heritage and fostering unity, pride, and institutional continuity among the people.

Hon. Akposi commended the Leader and Members of the Legislative Council for their patriotism, diligence, and unwavering commitment in ensuring the successful passage of the Bye-Laws. 

He acknowledged the valuable contributions of traditional rulers, security agencies, community leaders, stakeholders, and citizens whose inputs enriched the legislative process.

He called on all residents, corporate organisations, development partners, and relevant stakeholders to support the implementation of the lawd in the collective interest of peace, progress, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.

Some stakeholders present at the event unanimously lauded the visionary leadership of the Executive Chairman and the Legislative Council, while emphasizing the importance of effective implementation of the Bye-Laws through robust collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, host communities, private sector operators, and development partners.

Particular attention was drawn to the need for sustained security synergy across Akamkpa, stronger partnerships with companies operating within the Local Government Area, proper trademark protection of the newly unveiled logo as a symbol of institutional identity, and the establishment of effective mechanisms for enforcing environmental sanitation standards as provided under the new legal framework.

High point of the event climax was the official unveiling of the Akamkpa Local Government Logo, a symbolic representation of the identity, heritage, aspirations, and collective values of the people of Akamkpa.
