APC Disqualifies Oden Ewa, Asuquo From Senate Primaries

The All Progressives Congress APC has reportedly disqualified Oden Ewa and Daniel Asuquo, two aspirants widely believed to be favourites of Governor Bassey Otu, from participating in the party’s senatorial primaries for Cross River Central and Cross River South Senatorial Districts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development was reportedly contained in a document circulated on Monday and linked to a verified X account signed by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

Ewa, the current Commissioner for Special Duties in Cross River State, had been regarded as a major contender in the Cross River Central senatorial race and was believed to enjoy the backing of influential stakeholders within the party.

Similarly, Asuquo, a former member of the House of Representatives popularly known as Dansuki, was considered one of the leading aspirants for the APC senatorial ticket in Cross River South ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The reported disqualification of both aspirants has triggered reactions among party members and supporters, many of whom expressed surprise over the development and its possible implications for the primaries.

Although the APC leadership in Cross River State had yet to issue an official clarification as of press time, party insiders suggested that the development may be linked to ongoing political realignments and internal power struggles ahead of the National Assembly primaries.

Political observers believe the decision could significantly alter the dynamics of the senatorial contests, particularly in Cross River Central where the race had largely been viewed as a direct contest between incumbent senator Eteng Jonah Williams and Oden Ewa.

Analysts also warned that the situation could reshape political calculations within the ruling party as stakeholders await further clarification from the APC national leadership.
