The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, has commended Governor Senator Bassey Edet Otu for the ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects in Ikom, stating that the interventions will significantly bolster economic activities and improve the living standards of residents across the metropolis.

Agbor said the projects, which include the reconstruction of Prison Road, Sweet Mother Street, Mile 2 and other adjoining streets, accentuates the commitment of the Governor's People First administration to addressing critical infrastructure needs and enhancing the welfare of the people.

Speaking on the impact of the projects, Thursday, the Special Adviser noted that the roads are among the busiest routes in Ikom, serving as major commercial and residential corridors that connect markets, businesses, schools and government institutions.

According to him, years of neglect had made movement difficult for residents and business operators, but the ongoing construction works are already restoring confidence among the people and creating hope for better days ahead.

"Governor Bassey Otu has demonstrated once again that he is committed to fulfilling his promises to the people. These road projects are about creating opportunities, improving livelihoods and opening up Ikom for greater economic growth," Agbor stated.

He explained that upon completion, the roads would ease traffic congestion within the town, reduce travel time and improve access to commercial centres and residential communities.

Agbor further noted that the improved road network would lower transportation costs for traders and commuters, facilitate the movement of goods and services and encourage business expansion within the area.

He emphasized that Ikom occupies a strategic position as a commercial hub in Cross River Central Senatorial District and therefore requires quality infrastructure to support its growing population and economic activities.

The Special Adviser said better roads would also improve the overall living conditions of residents by enhancing access to essential services and reducing the challenges associated with poor road infrastructure.

He described the projects as part of Governor Otu's vision of ensuring balanced development across the state and delivering infrastructure that directly impacts the daily lives of citizens.

According to Agbor, the ongoing works have further strengthened public confidence in the administration's resolve to spread development to all parts of Cross River State without discrimination.

While applauding the Governor's commitment to infrastructural renewal, he urged contractors handling the various projects to maintain high standards and ensure timely completion of the roads.

He also called on residents to cooperate with government and contractors throughout the construction period, assuring them that the temporary inconveniences associated with the projects would ultimately give way to lasting benefits.

Agbor expressed optimism that the completion of the roads would mark a new chapter in Ikom's development, positioning the town for increased commercial activities, improved mobility and a better quality of life for its residents.
