The Osun State Police Command has paraded a man, Victor Fajemirokun, alongside two herbalists, for their alleged roles in the gruesome killing of a Federal Road Safety Corps officer, Lasisi Funmilayo, and her daughter, Sewa.

Fajemirokun, 40, was presented to journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday with the herbalists, Gboyega Daramola and Sunday James, after investigations revealed that the victims were lured from Abeokuta, Ogun State, to Ijebu-Jesa in Osun State, where they were murdered for ritual purposes.

Funmilayo, 39, and her daughter were declared missing on November 2 after leaving their residence at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Abeokuta.

During interrogation, Fajemirokun said he had been told by a cleric that Funmilayo was using “spiritual powers” to hinder his progress, prompting him to seek help from Daramola, whom he met on TikTok. He admitted inviting Funmilayo under the guise of spiritual cleansing, only to lead her into a deadly trap.

He said, “After the consultation, I was told Funmilayo was behind my misfortune. I invited her and her daughter to Osun. When we got to the bush, they killed them. I felt as if I was under a spell.”

Herbalist Sunday James confessed that he slit the victims’ throats on the instruction of his boss, Daramola, who he claimed threatened him. He said the mother’s body was later dismembered.

Daramola denied personal involvement but admitted that Fajemirokun brought the victims for ritual purposes.

Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Gotan, said detectives arrested Daramola on November 16, after which he led officers to Esa-Odo Dam, where Funmilayo’s mutilated body was recovered. Several vital organs were missing.

James also took investigators to the bush where Sewa’s remains were found, similarly mutilated.

Fajemirokun initially fled the scene but was later arrested in Ghana through Interpol collaboration and repatriated to Nigeria.

CP Gotan vowed that all suspects would be prosecuted and said efforts were ongoing to apprehend other accomplices still at large.
