UNICROSS Commences Second Semester Exams as VC Inspects Examination Venues
The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has commenced its Second Semester Examinations for the 2025/2026 Academic Session, with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, inspecting examination venues at the Calabar Campus to monitor the conduct and progress of the examinations.
On Day One of the examinations, Monday, September 14, 2026, the Vice Chancellor, accompanied by members of the University Management, interacted with students and examination officials, as part of efforts to ensure a smooth, orderly and credible examination process.
At Edu Hall 1 in the Faculty of Education, the Vice Chancellor cancelled an examination in Adult Education and Community Development following non-compliance with examination rules by both students and invigilators.
According to the Head of Department of Educational Foundation, Dr. Moses Ewa, Adult Education and Community Development is domiciled in the Department of Educational Foundation and is serviced to all Departments in the Faculty of Education. He explained that the affected examination venue was being used by final year students of the Department of Educational Management.
Ahead of the examinations, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Stella Maris-Okey, reminded Heads of Departments of the need to ensure strict compliance with examination regulations. She stressed that only students who had duly registered for their courses should be allowed to sit for examinations, warning against all forms of examination malpractice.
She also directed departments to submit hard copies of raw scores to her office within two weeks of the respective examinations.
Similarly, the Director of Examinations and Results, Engr. Dr. Anderson Etika, issued sensitisation materials urging staff and students to uphold high ethical standards and shun examination malpractice.
The Director of Quality Assurance, Dr. Orok Duke, also directed departments to submit daily reports on the conduct of the examinations, reinforcing the University's commitment to maintaining academic standards and quality assurance.
In the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, the Chairperson of the Department's Quality Assurance Committee, Dr. Patricia Eyong Okoi, reminded students to demonstrate discipline, honesty and professionalism throughout the examinations.
She cautioned against the use of mobile phones, smart watches, unauthorised materials, impersonation, copying and other forms of examination malpractice.
The University has consequently called on all students and staff to cooperate with examination officials and uphold the integrity of the examination process, noting that academic success must be achieved through diligence, honesty and hard work.
