The Nigerian media community is in deep mourning following the tragic death of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a rising star at ARISE News Channel, who was killed during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja, in the early hours of Monday. She was 29.

Fondly called Sommie by colleagues, Maduagwu was not only a news anchor but also a reporter and producer whose presence on screen was marked by warmth, poise, and professionalism.

Born on December 26, 1995, Maduagwu was a trained lawyer who transitioned into broadcast journalism, where she quickly carved a niche for herself as a vibrant and respected media personality.
