Jarigbe Backs Otu to End Leadership Crisis in Cross River APC
By Ekanem ASUQUO
Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has thrown his weight behind Governor Bassey Otu’s effort to end the deepening leadership crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, calling on party members to close ranks and restore internal harmony.
Addressing the mounting tensions between chapter chairmen and the state party leadership, Jarigbe said he was disturbed by attempts to drag his name into the dispute or link the crisis to his political ambitions ahead of 2027. He described such claims as unfounded and a distortion of the issues at stake.
The Senator, who recently joined the APC, clarified that the conflict was not tied to the Cross River North Senatorial District or a personal disagreement with any official, stressing that the challenges confronting the party were state-wide and demanded collective maturity and responsibility.
Jarigbe reiterated his commitment to peace, party stability, and constructive engagement, noting that his primary focus remains delivering effective representation to the people of Cross River North while supporting Governor Otu’s development agenda.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and acknowledged the contributions of former Governor Ben Ayade, while emphasising his full alignment with Governor Otu as the APC leader in the state.
Calling on all party faithful to sheath their swords, Jarigbe urged stakeholders to refrain from actions capable of escalating the rift and instead work together to rebuild cohesion across wards and local government areas.
He reminded members that the APC’s prospects in future elections depend on unity, discipline, and respect for leadership.
Jarigbe concluded by praying for continued progress for the party and Cross River State, expressing optimism that peace would soon be restored.
