Governor Otu Gifts Nursing Colleges 3 Brand New Buses to Boost Healthcare

The Governor of Cross River State Senator Bassey Otu has gifted Nursing Colleges in in the state with 3 brand new 32 seater Buses.
The 3 schools of nursing in Cross River state, Colleges of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences in Itigidi, Calabar, and Ogoja are to benefit a bus each from the gesture
The significant move according to the governor, is in a bid to boost the state's healthcare sector as well as facilitate the transportation of nursing students to clinical postings as well as enhancing their practical training experience.
Governor Otu emphasized the need for investing in healthcare infrastructure and training healthcare professionals, stating that, "To ensure the effective utilization of our healthcare facilities, we must train nurses and other healthcare professionals".
He however disclosed plans to establish a "medical village" in one of the northern senatorial district hospitals, designed to improve access to quality care and serve as a training hub for nurses and doctors.
In another development, the state government has also ensured that the nursing colleges have access to their budgets for project implementation, putting an end to the past when these institutions struggled to utilize their funds.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, while receiving the buses, praised the governor's efforts, noting that the buses will greatly enhance the clinical training of nursing students and enable them to provide quality care to citizens.
Also, the chairman of the Governing Board, college of Nursing Sciences Calabar, Dr. Christy Essien Ekpe, expressed deep gratitude to the governor, describing the gesture as truly people's first.
"Thank you, People First Governor. We can't thank you enough. It's been decades since we've had access to funds for schools and colleges* she said.
