Ibadan Varsity Dismisses 226 Students Over Poor Academic Performance

The University of Ibadan has dismissed 226 undergraduate students over poor academic performance.

The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the university’s Senate where results for the 2024/2025 academic session were reviewed and approved. The Senate resolved that students whose Cumulative Grade Point Average fell below 1.0 would be required to discontinue their programmes in accordance with the institution’s academic regulations.

Following the decision, the affected students have been denied access to the university’s registration portal, effectively bringing their academic activities at the institution to an end.

The dismissals cut across all levels of study from 100 to 500 level and span several faculties. The Faculty of Science recorded the highest number of affected students with 79, followed by the Faculty of Technology with 45 and the Faculty of Agriculture with 35.
