Tributes have continued to pour in across Cross River State as Governor Bassey Edet Otu, Senator Eteng Jonas Williams, key government officials and notable stakeholders celebrate former Governor Clement David Ebri on his seventy third birthday.

In a message issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, Governor Otu described Chief Ebri as “a towering statesman and the father of modern Cross River State.” He recalled that although Ebri’s administration from 1992 to 1993 was brief, it laid enduring foundations that continue to shape the state’s development. “His bold reforms in agriculture, education, health and infrastructure reshaped the soul of our state,” the Governor said, noting that his leadership values remain an inspiration to generations.

Senator Eteng Jonas Williams, representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, also extolled the former governor, describing him as “a visionary leader, patriot and one of the finest sons of Cross River Central whose impact remains indelible.” He noted that Ebri’s administration opened a golden chapter in the state’s governance and prayed for long life, strength and divine favour for the elder statesman.

Adding his voice, Hon. Cyril Omini, Member representing Yakurr 1 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, celebrated Chief Ebri as “a true statesman whose life continues to be a remarkable lesson in dignity, resilience and enduring service.” He said Ebri’s principled leadership remains a guiding light for all who value integrity and public service.

The Commissioner for Information, Raymond Ekpang, described the former governor’s legacy as “a guiding light for leaders committed to integrity and purposeful development.” He said Ebri’s depth of thought and people centred governance continue to inspire the state’s public service.

Goodwill messages also came from respected individuals across the state. Barr. John Ebokpo, legal luminary and philanthropist from Obubra, hailed Chief Ebri as “an exemplary leader whose life of service, integrity and visionary leadership stands in the highest esteem.” He praised the former governor’s enduring contributions to Cross River’s political and developmental progress.

Sunday Michael, Special Adviser to the Governor on the Obudu Ranch Resort, described Chief Ebri as “an iconic statesman whose life has steadfastly lifted the hopes and standards of our people.” He noted that Ebri’s reforms continue to bear fruit decades later. As a proud son of Yakurr, he said the former governor remains a source of pride and inspiration to younger generations.

As Cross River State joins in celebration, Chief Clement David Ebri is being widely honoured as a father figure, mentor and distinguished leader whose legacy continues to echo across generations. His seventy third birthday has reaffirmed his place as one of the most influential public figures in the state’s history.
