FG Bans Admission, Transfer into SS3 to Curb Exam Malpractice
The Federal Government has banned the admission and transfer of students into Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) in all public and private secondary schools nationwide.
The directive, announced by the Federal Ministry of Education, will take effect from the 2026/27 academic session. Students will only be allowed to gain admission or transfer into Senior Secondary School One (SS1) and Senior Secondary School Two (SS2).
According to the Ministry, the policy addresses growing concerns over the use of “special centres” and other practices that compromise the integrity of national examinations.
“This measure is intended to discourage last-minute student movements aimed at gaining unfair examination advantages and to ensure proper academic monitoring,” the statement said.
The Ministry has called on school proprietors, principals, and administrators to comply fully with the new rules, warning that violations will attract sanctions under existing education regulations.
The Federal Government emphasized that the decision reflects its commitment to maintaining academic standards, promoting fairness, and restoring public confidence in Nigeria’s education system.
