Cross River Students Hail Sen Jarigbe's N50m Bursary Scheme

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have hailed Sen. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe's N50m bursary scheme for students from Cross River north senatorial district.
Sen Jarigbe, in a scheme tagged #Jariburs. has recently paid out N100,000 each to 500 students from his constituents in the five local government area of the north district.
It's the first time a lawmaker has paid out a bursary worth N50,000,000.00.
The students were selected across the 54 wards, within the 5 local government areas of Cross River north senatorial district, from various tertiary institutions within and outside Cross River state.
The selection process was very transparent by employing an Internet-based automatic system with no consideration for race, religion, party, or ethnicity.
Hailing the Senator's gesture, the State Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Nurse Olayi Emmanuel, said the initiative is very timely and innovative, especially coming at a time Nigeria students are passing though harsh economic measures.
Emmanuel said the gesture was given to the youths of Cross River north senatorial district, who truly need the assistance in their academic pursuit and possibly realise their life ambition.
Similarly, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS),Cross River State said the bursary came in the nick of time when Nigerians are grappling with the harsh realities of inflation, unemployment, and poverty, students have been disproportionately affected.
In a statement signed by Comrades Christopher Keeping, and Victor Asuquo, chairman and secretary respectively, enjoined other lawmakers and political office holders to borrow a leaf from Jarigbe by prioritising the needs of the students in their constituents.
