The Cross River State Local Government Service Commission has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the country’s 65th Independence anniversary, with a call to uphold the vision of unity, peace, and progress laid down by the nation’s founding fathers.
In a goodwill message signed by its Chairman, Mr. Darlington Bassey, the Commission described October 1, 1960, as a landmark in history that continues to remind Nigerians of both the nation’s achievements and its responsibility to preserve democratic values.
The Commission felicitated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and all Nigerians on the milestone celebration, while extending warm congratulations to Governor Senator Bassey Edet Otu, his Deputy Dr. Peter Odey, the State House of Assembly, the Judiciary, and the Traditional Rulers Council for their role in strengthening governance in Cross River State.
Mr. Bassey particularly lauded Governor Otu for completing and commissioning the Local Government Service Commission Secretariat, a project abandoned for over 20 years. He also praised the administration’s approvals of promotions, recruitments, and staff training, noting that these reforms have enhanced service delivery at the grassroots in line with the People’s First mantra.
“As a Commission, we remain committed to advancing the Season of Sweetness from the creeks of Bakassi to the hills of Obanlikwu,” the statement read.
The Commission reaffirmed its pledge to continue supporting initiatives that bring development closer to the people and expressed confidence in Nigeria’s journey towards greater progress.
