The Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, has commended the remarkable achievements of His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, since assuming office as Governor of Cross River State.

Speaking when he received the women wing of the Obubra-Etung Political Assembly on a courtesy visit to his residence in Calabar, Barr. Agbor lauded the Governor’s people-centered leadership, describing it as a new dawn of purposeful governance that has brought joy and renewed hope across the state.

“Our dear Governor has continued to deliver quality governance and must be supported beyond 2027. Roads are being constructed, infrastructure is being put in place, and the people are happy. True governance has indeed returned to Cross River State,” Agbor said.

The Special Adviser took time to list the many deliverables of the Otu-led administration to include road interventions across Calabar, Ugep, Ikom, Ogoja, Yala, Akamkpa and other parts of the state. He also cited the revitalization of healthcare through strategic partnerships with the World Bank and other donor organizations, where over 80 primary healthcare facilities are being upgraded. Agbor further highlighted the construction of an ultramodern General Hospital in Ikom, the upgrade of the Cottage Hospital in Oban, the renovation of the General Hospital in Ukem–Odukpani, and the reconstruction of the Akpabuyo General Hospital as evidence of the Governor’s determination to reposition the health sector.

On youth empowerment, Barr. Agbor recalled that the present Otu-led government has ploughed N800 million into supporting 400 young people across the state, equipping them to embrace agriculture and entrepreneurship as viable pathways to wealth creation. He explained that this initiative, alongside the administration’s agricultural revolution in cash crops such as cocoa, coffee and oil palm, is steadily positioning Cross River State as a preferred destination for investment, economic prosperity and a major contributor to food security and agro-based exports.

Assuring the women of his full backing, Agbor said their intention to endorse Governor Otu for another term was well-placed and deserving. “Because the Governor is doing so well, your group’s intention to endorse him is fully backed by me, without any reservations,” he declared.

Earlier, Pastor (Mrs.) Magdalene Ovat and Mrs. Rose Ntui, who spoke on behalf of the group, commended Barr. Agbor for his quality leadership and contributions to human and community development. They also announced that a date would soon be fixed for the formal endorsement of Governor Otu by the Obubra-Etung Political Assembly for a second term in office.
