Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, has brought Christmas relief to patients in Abi and Obubra local government areas by clearing the medical bills of 24 patients at Eja Memorial Hospital and Obubra General Hospital.

The intervention, which covered medical expenses amounting to about N1.4 million, benefited mainly children, women, and accident victims who were receiving treatment at the two public hospitals.

At Eja Memorial Hospital in Abi, the senator paid the bills of five patients across various wards during his visit. At Obubra General Hospital, the medical bills of 19 patients were fully settled.

During the visits, Senator Eteng interacted with the patients, offering prayers and words of encouragement. He described the gesture as an expression of love and compassion in line with the teachings of Christ during the Christmas season and wished the beneficiaries good health and God’s blessings in the new year.

The senator recalled that during the Easter celebration earlier in the year, he undertook similar visits to public hospitals in Ikom, Abi, and Yakurr local government areas where he also offset the medical bills of patients.

The Medical Superintendents of Eja Memorial Hospital, Abi, Dr Anthony Ogar, and Obubra General Hospital, Dr Ekom Francis Ogban, commended Senator Eteng for remembering the sick at a critical time, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.

One of the beneficiaries at Obubra General Hospital, Madam Blessing Agbor, expressed appreciation for the senator’s intervention.

“God has answered our prayers through Senator Eteng. We are grateful that he remembered the sick during this Christmas season,” she said.

Patients and hospital staff described the intervention as a meaningful act of support that brought relief and renewed hope to those receiving treatment during the festive period.
