Duke Celebrates Christmas with Assembly Colleagues, Shares Cash,Gifts

A member of the Niger Delta Development Commission Board representing Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke PhD, has celebrated the Christmas season with former members of the Cross River State House of Assembly, extending goodwill, cash support, and other gifts to them.

The gesture marked the third consecutive year Duke has reached out to his former colleagues during the Christmas season, underscoring his commitment to welfare, unity, and sustained camaraderie among past legislators.

Speaking at the gathering, Duke emphasized the importance of mutual support among former lawmakers, noting that advancing age and economic realities make such solidarity necessary.

He also expressed delight at the continued political relevance of some former assembly members, citing the current Deputy Governor of Cross River State as one of them, while expressing optimism that others would attain greater heights in the future.

The former Deputy Speaker announced a support package of N100,000 cash and a bag of rice for each of the 31 former assembly members present at the event. He explained that the gesture was informed by the prevailing economic challenges facing many Nigerians.

The event was described by attendees as a thoughtful intervention that reinforced bonds among former lawmakers and brought relief and cheer during the festive season.
