The Member representing Calabar Municipal State Constituency at the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Stanley Nsemo and his constituents have called out Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company on his Facebook wall, ‘stanley bassey okon nsemo’ decrying the lack of power supply and absence of customer services by the Company. The state lawmaker lamented that his phone is filled with complaints from his constituents about the company.

Hon. Stanley Nsemo, who lampooned staff of the company, said PHEDC act as though they were demi-gods and never apologise for their inadequacies. “So PHEDC thinks they are demigods. We will fight back. My phone is filled with complaints about PHEDC. #phedcsucks #Enough.” Nsemo, warned.

He went on to narrate his personal encounter with them. “Last month they sent me a bill of 340k, and after complained, they brought it down to 100k. I paid. The people still cut my light on Christmas eve. I paid the balance. Now they have come with a bill of 400k plus. Note that I have been begging to be metered since December. No apologies, no customer services. They have become alpha and omega. Judge jury and executioner. Worst part is, I fixed the damn transformer when it went bad, with my own money. Every day I get more complains from my constituency about PHEDC than any other sector. The people are tired. We are tired phedc!!!! Give us service and customer service.” Nsemo, cried out.

Reacting to his post, one of his followers, Gabriel Ita, wrote: “The biggest problem we have in Nigeria now is PHCN. Those guys are defrauding Nigerians. Someone earns 80k and has to pay 25k for electricity.. Where else in the world does such happen? What are they doing with all the monies.. Electricity should be available and cheap. It’s already happening so in many African countries. The whole Band A thing is scam. Just to defraud Nigerians of their hard earned monies. WE MUST RISE UP TOGETHER AND PROTEST AGAINST PHEDC! THE EXPLOITATION IS TOO MUCH!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!”

Another follower, Efanga Efiom, narrated: “10 months going No Light. IBB Way axis closer to Akim Police Station. Imagine doing business there? We spent so much to cold our drinks.”

Other followers expressed disappointment and dismay over the poor services and treatments meted to them by the company and their staff.

Meanwhile, there is yet to be a response from the PHEDC office in Calabar over such serious and heavy allegations on the company.
