Royal Strikers FC Wins 2026 Comfort FM Football Tournament

The 2026 Comfort FM Football Tournament wrapped up yesterday at the Uyo Township Stadium with fans, community leaders, and football lovers filling the stands for the final match.
The week-long tournament, organized by Comfort 95.1 FM Uyo, brought together 16 grassroots teams from across Akwa Ibom State to promote youth talent, unity, and sports development.
In a keenly contested final played yesterday evening, Royal Strikers FC edged out Unity Stars FC by 2-1 to lift the trophy.
Royal Strikers took an early lead in the 18th minute, but Unity Stars equalized just before halftime. The winning goal came in the 74th minute after a well-taken free kick that sent the crowd into wild celebration.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Chairman of Comfort FM, Distinguished Senator Effiong Bob, the General Manager of Station, representative of State Football Association (FA), Staff, Sports officials, and and members of the public.
The Winners, Royal Strikers FC went home with:Trophy and a ₦1,000,000 cash prize, while Unity Stars FC finished as runners up with ₦500,000 cash prize, as well as ₦250,000 cash prize for Golden Eagles FC, who came out 3rd place.
The Best Player of the tournament was Emmanuel Obot, Royal Strikers FC, the
Highest Goal Scorer was David Okon, 5 goals, and while the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament goes to Samuel Etim, Unity Stars FC
In his opening remarks the General Manager of Comfort FM, Mr. Samuel Akpan said the tournament was created to give young footballers a platform to shine and to use sports to promote peace and community engagement in Akwa Ibom.
Also Speaking at the finals, the Chairman of Comfort FM, Distinguished Senator Effiong Bob, commended the organizers and all participating teams for their sportsmanship and talent. He described the tournament as a platform for youth development and community unity.
Senator Bob also promised Comfort FM’s continuous support for the competition, adding that the station remains committed to using sports to empower young people in the state.
Fans praised the organization, the fair officiating, and the turnout throughout the tournament.
Comfort FM officials said plans are already underway to make next year’s edition bigger, with more teams and scouting opportunities for players.
