‎REVEALED: How Security Agencies Secured Release of Abducted Oyo Pupils, Teachers

Dr. Seyi Adebayo, the counter-terrorism expert, has revealed details of the intelligence strategy he said was used by security agencies during the operation that rescued Oriire pupils, teachers, and principal abducted by bandits in Oyo State after days of uncertainty.

‎According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of TVC News on Friday, July 10, 2026, while reacting to the rescue operation, he stated that security operatives extended their operations to Adamawa State, where they began arresting family members and associates linked to the suspects.

‎Adebayo explained that security operatives expanded their activities across northern states, identifying individuals connected to the kidnappers while applying pressure on the criminal network to secure the safe return of the abducted victims without causing further harm.

‎He added that the strategy involved targeting the support structure of the criminals and using intelligence gathering to influence their actions during the hostage situation, while ensuring that the rescue effort remained focused on protecting the lives of the victims.

‎During the interview, Adebayo said, “what they did was that they did video and send the video back to them and said 'we've seen the one you killed, if you kill anyone, we will also kill your family member.'”

‎The rescue of the pupils, teachers, and principal brought relief to families and residents of Oyo State after concerns over their safety, with authorities highlighting cooperation among security agencies in tackling kidnapping and other security challenges.

‎In his concluding remarks, Adebayo said the operation showed the importance of coordinated intelligence and collaboration among security agencies in fighting criminal activities, while stressing the need for continued efforts to improve public safety and protect citizens.
