POLITICS: ADC Vows to Reset Nigeria, Cross River, Tasks APC on Insecurity

A chieftain of the African Democratic Alliance (ADC) and former governorship candidate in Cross River State, Effiong Nyong, has said the party is out to reset the Nigeria and the state of given the votes into power in 2027.
He said Cross River in particular is not faring better despite its early exposure to democracy, challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to face criminals rather than negotiating with them.
Nyong, who stated thil in Calabar at the weekend during the formal unveiling of the ADC Coalition in the state as well as its State Secretariat, said: "APC should stop negotiating with criminals, face them and partner with any help you can get. An ADC government will not pamper terrorists", he said.
"The first duty of government at any level is to secure it's citizens but what is happening presently in the country is a nightmare. We need to reset and cover our ungoverned spaces across Nigeria and in Cross River State".
On Cross River State, he said the ADC is out to reset the state because the state is not faring better despite its early exposure to democracy.
"We fault the local government system in the state in which the council funds are being managed by the State government to the detriment of the councils."
Also speaking, Effiom Okoi, the chairman of the ADC Elders Advisory Council, said governance at both the state and national levels have been bedevilled by maladministration, insecurity, corruption and gross impunity.
According to him, "public transportation in the state is a nightmare, businesses relocating, gratuities unpaid, the government has been clapping for itself without doing anything.
"ADC is on a rescue mission to correct these ills and we task members to play their part to actualize this mission."
