PDP Convention: Turaki Submits National Chairmanship Nomination Form
A PDP chieftain and close ally of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Umar Sani, has told journalists that Turaki had submitted his nomination forms for the position of National Chairman at the National Convention Organising Committee Headquarters, Legacy House, Abuja, and presented an acknowledgment slip as proof.
According to The Punch, the development occurred just hours after former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido, alleged that he was denied access to purchase the forms.
Sani maintained that the former minister had no fear of any contender, emphasising that other aspirants who obtained nomination forms were equally entitled to exercise their rights within the party.
He explained that Turaki was not intimidated by anyone, noting that he remained a loyal member who understood the internal workings of the PDP. Sani stressed that it would be wrong for anyone to assume that Turaki was afraid of other contestants, as he had full confidence in his chances and commitment to the party.
Further talking, he said, “He has been in this party for a very long time. He has never aspired to become a House of Representatives member, a Senator, or a Governor, only that he once aspired to become President.
"And even during that presidential bid, when he was defeated at the primaries in Port Harcourt, he still served as the Director of Administration and Finance of the Presidential Campaign Council. So, he's very much aware that he has a responsibility."
Sani further noted that Turaki had remained a dedicated member of the PDP, consistently making meaningful contributions — legally, financially, and otherwise. He stated that if entrusted with the responsibility of leading the party, Turaki would place it on a solid foundation because of his neutrality.
According to him, this quality was what the governors valued most about Turaki, as he was not aligned with either Wike or the Governors’ Forum. Sani added that Turaki would be fair to all, restore discipline, and stabilise the party.
He described him as an independent-minded leader whose vast experience as a lawyer and former Minister of Special Duties had equipped him with the versatility and balance needed to manage complex party affairs effectively
