Nigeria Lacks Political Will to Fight Terrorism — Archbishop Isong
The General Overseer of Christian Central Chapel International, Archbishop Emmah Isong, says Nigeria lacks the political will to tackle terrorism.
Speaking over the weekend at a prayer meeting organised by the Semakamek Support Group, he said the country needs divine intervention and stronger support from the United States to address rising insecurity.
According to him, the planned U.S. involvement in the fight against insecurity is “from God,” adding that Nigeria needs assistance in arms, technology, and intelligence sharing.
“You cannot fight international terrorism without the United States because they have experience,” he said.
Archbishop Isong explained that the prayer group, which has existed for more than two years, was formed to unite Christian leaders in prayer and to encourage them to speak with one voice.
He added that the church is not overstepping its role, but fulfilling its duty as the “salt of the earth” by not remaining silent on political issues.
During the prayer summit, the group honoured the Chief of Staff to the Cross River State Governor, Emmanuel Ironbar, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem, with the Shield of Faith Award.
In his acceptance speech, the Chief of Staff dedicated the award to Governor Bassey Otu and called for more prayers to help the governor deliver on his People’s First agenda.
