Odukpani Pledges Unanimous Support for Otu, Tinubu's Second Terms

In a powerful display of unified political will, the Odukpani local government area has thrown its full support behind Governor Bassey Otu for a second term and endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election.
This resounding endorsement highlights the profound impact both administrations have had on the development and progress of Cross River State and Nigeria.
Speaking at the endorsement campaign, the Paramount Ruler, Etiyin Otu Asuquo Mesembe VI, who spoke through Prof.Eyo Etim Nyong, emphasized the significance of this moment.
"We weren't shouting 'Back to South' in vain. God blessed us with a Governor who has proven that indeed the South has much to offer Cross River State and Nigeria," stated Prof. Nyong.
He commended Governor Otu's comprehensive development approach, which extends beyond visible infrastructure to include crucial advancements in health, education, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.
Adding a legislative voice to the endorsement, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong of the Southern Senatorial District, lauded Odukpani as a "fountain of sweetness" for the state. He clarified that the gathering was not just an endorsement, but also a heartfelt "thank-you assembly" from Odukpani to the 17 other LGAs that have already endorsed Governor Otu. Senator Ekpenyong further bolstered the call for President Tinubu's re-election, citing numerous people-centric policies of the national government. He then successfully moved a motion to adopt both leaders as the sole candidates for Governor and President, respectively, in the 2027 general elections—a motion met with widespread agreement.
Hon. Etim Asido, Chairman of the Odukpani local government area, welcomed attendees and drew attention to the tangible benefits of the strong collaboration between state and federal governments, exemplified by projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. He urged the people of Odukpani to solidify this endorsement by actively working with other stakeholders to ensure Governor Otu's return in 2027.
Speaking on behalf of Special Advisers from Odukpani, Akiba Ekpenyong, Esq., powerfully articulated the sentiment, stating, "the facts speak for themselves – what the governor has done is 'visible to the blind'; even the deaf and dumb are hearing and speaking about the revival of the state." He expressed profound gratitude for Governor Otu's role in restoring Cross River's image and creating new opportunities, noting the consistent leadership demonstrated by the Senatorial District.
In response, Governor Bassey Otu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, expressed immense gratitude for the overwhelming support. He reiterated his administration's commitment to delivering tangible services that meet the aspirations of the people, rather than just offering "lip service." Governor Otu reaffirmed his dedication to restoring Cross River to its rightful place as an economically prosperous state in Nigeria. He assured the gathering that the significant progress made in just two years is merely "a tip of the iceberg," and that the unwavering support from Cross Riverians has fueled his resolve to achieve even more.
