BREAKING: South South APC Adopts Tinubu, Otu, Eno, Okpebholo, Oborevwori As Sole Presidential, Governorship Candidates Ahead of 2027

THE South South All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders have adopted President Bola Tinubu, Governors Bassey Edet Otu, Umo Eno, Monday Okpebholo and Onoriode Oborevwori as sole presidential candidate and governorship candidates of Cross River , Akwa Ibom, Delta and Edo states respectively ahead of 2027 general elections.
Adoption was contained in a communique issued by the stakeholders at the South South Zonal meeting held in Benin in Edo state on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
The meeting was attended by the four Governors of APC in the region, Senate President, party leadership, members of NASS and other critical stakeholders.
The communique read by the APC South South national vice chairman, Chief Victor Giadom, among others, commended President Tinubu and President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, for piloting the affairs of the nation and for taking the interest of the zone into consideration in their policy formulations.
The communique reads in part: "We hereby unanimously adopt Tinubu as the sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. We also unanimously adopt all our APC Governors of South South as our sole candidates for 2027 elections and appeal to the electorate to queue behind them.
"We commend President Bola Tinubu for repositioning Nigeria with his policies and programmes as seen in the Lagos-Calabr Coastal highway.
"We pass a vote of confidence on the Senate President for his quality leadership and total support for President Tinubu.
"We also commend the Delta and Akwa Ibom states governors for embracing the Renewed Hope team. We call Rivers and Bayelsa Governors to join us in APC. We pass a vote of confidence on Governors Bassey Edet Otu, Umo Eno, Monday Okpebholo and Onoriode Oborevwori Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Edo and Delta states respectively as soles candidates and it should be reflected in 2027.
"We commend FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, for his total support for President Tinubu and his development stride in Abuja."
Speaking earlier, the acting national chairman of APC, Ali Dalori, said the zone is very important in nations sociopolitical development and plays a strategic position in deciding who leads the country.
"So, as we head towards 2027, I can see the stakeholders of the zone unite for a common cause and queue behind our President Tinubu because there is no vacancy in Aso Rock come 2027," he stated
Also speaking, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. says South South is the heartbeat of Nigeria and we have always played a vital role in who rules the country
"We have always aligned with those who have ruled to share the golden egg of Nigeria. We are the resource base of the country and have a vital role to play ahead of 2027.
"In the region, we are one block and would work with our national vice chairman to deliver em block. We are the zone that oil the nations economic growth. We must speak with one voice. Let us bury our differences and take our place in the pride of the nation.
"In 2027, we must support Tinubu and prepare ourselves with unity and racist. It is about securing our future for our children. We have quite time yearned for an inclusive administration and we have started witnessing it. APC is a party of justice and unity for our people.
"" I can assure you that with the landmark coastal highway, the south South will soon become the economic hub of the nation and boost interstate commerce and tourism.
"Tinubu's administration has continued the rehabilitation of east west road which is critical for development. The Calabar-Odukpani-Uyo federal highway is receiving urgent attention."
