The bigwigs of Eket politics have unequivocally affirmed Chief Joseph Ubokudom as the political leader of Okon Ward 1.

The declaration came during a visit to Chief Ubokudom at his residence in Ikot Ataku village, Okon, Eket Local Government Area on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Speaking, Pst. Frank Archibong, commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, the leader of the delegation, expressed solidarity with Chief Ubokudom, citing his steadfastness with the party and the community over the years as motivating factor.

"We are here to show solidarity to our leader, our father, who has been with us and the party through thick and thin," Archibong affirmed.

He stated that unlike occasions where gatherings might be for funerals, they rejoiced that this visit is a celebration of life, health, and Chief Ubokudom's clear mind.

According to Archibong, Chief Ubokudom's singular leadership in the ward, earned through years of shared struggles and commitment to the community and the party has endeared him to us, promising to stand by him as the only recognised political leader of the ward.

"We recognise you as the sole leader we acknowledge and will stand by. Those absent during our trials cannot expect to reap where they did not sow.

"The leaders will take over the health bills of Chief Ubokudom from now henceforth."
