First off, ETONO II and BIAKPAN ARE NOT BROTHERLY COMMUNITIES as they do not come from the same ancestry neither do they share affinity in cultural heritage, language and norms. While Biakpan practice maternal inheritance, Etono II have paternal inheritance. The report that "Sporadic shootings were heard on Monday and Tuesday inside Biakpan and a few persons have been killed" could only be a fiction of the imagination of the acclaimed source. As this is not only false but aimed at playing the victim after Biakpan attacked Etono II community with their hired machineries. On Wednesday 11th June 2025, Biakpan launched an all front attack on Etono II community. They rounded the community and were shooting sporadically from all angles. Perhaps, the 2 strangers reported dead are foreign bodies hired to come and annihilate Etono II just so Biakpan will achieve their life long dream of annexing the community to build their proposed "NEW JERUSALEM". It has also been reported that security personnel have been deployed to the area to calm the situation. Perhaps the State Security Adviser Southern District, Patrick Odion is not aware that no security personnel has been deployed to the area. Or could it be a connivance with Biakpan to keep security personnel away until Etono II community is completely annihilated? It is also important to clearly state that Etono II youth leader who was summoned to appear before the CP could not honour the invitation owing to the fact that the only entry and exit route of Etono II community had been blocked by Biakpan and hostile people stationed at different points of the road to hinder free movement and possibly kill any ETONO II indigenes who venture into the road. We doubt the sincerity of Government in quelling the uprising with reference to Cross River State Government write in 2006/7 when the then secretary to the State Government Mr. Johnson Ebokpo wrote that Etono II community is part of Biakpan.
