NDC IS SUPREME: A WARNING AGAINST AN ILLEGAL SELF-CONSTITUTED "ELDERS' FORUM"
My attention has been drawn to the activities of certain individuals who have constituted themselves into what they describe as an "Elders' Forum" of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Cross River State.
Let me state unequivocally that the NDC is a structured political party governed by its constitution, rules, and established procedures. There is no provision, recognition, or record of any such body known as the "Elders' Forum" within the party structure in Cross River State.
No individual or group possesses the authority to unilaterally assume the status of party elders or create parallel organs without the approval and recognition of the duly constituted leadership of the party. Such actions are not only irregular but constitute a direct challenge to the authority of the party and its established structures.
This development is an affront to the office of the State Chairman, a disregard for the party's constitution, and an insult to the thousands of committed members of the NDC across Cross River State who believe in discipline, due process, and internal democracy.
If the party deems it necessary to establish an Elders' Forum or any advisory body, such a decision must emanate from the appropriate organs of the party and be constituted in accordance with the provisions of the party's constitution. Any group operating outside this framework remains illegal, unauthorized, and of no consequence to the party.
I therefore call on members of this self-styled group to immediately desist from presenting themselves as an official organ or affiliate of the NDC. The era of political cliques, gang-ups, and self-serving associations that undermine party cohesion and institutional integrity must not be allowed to flourish within our great party.
I specifically call on Mr. Bassey Ekefre, who is reportedly spearheading this unfortunate venture, to immediately dissociate himself from activities that are clearly outside the authority and approval of the party. He and his associates are advised to retrace their steps in the interest of peace, unity, discipline, and respect for constituted authority.
Let it be clearly understood that any attempt by any individual or group to create parallel structures, undermine the leadership of the party, or hijack the NDC in Cross River State will be firmly resisted through all legitimate and constitutional means available to the party leadership.
The NDC remains supreme. No individual is greater than the party, and no parallel structure, regardless of its composition or intentions, will be tolerated.
Those involved should consider this a final warning. They do not exist in the official records or recognized structure of the party and should immediately cease and desist from these actions. Failure to comply may attract appropriate sanctions in line with the provisions of the party's constitution and disciplinary procedures.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress remains committed to unity, order, discipline, and the collective aspirations of its members. We will continue to uphold the principles of constitutional governance and protect the integrity of our party at all times.
Signed:
Goddie A. Akpama
State Chairman
Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)
Cross River State
