In a renewed effort to reform the local government system and promote productivity under a secured and spiritually grounded environment, the Local Government Service Commission, headed by Chairman Mr. Darlington Bassey Eyo, has announced plans to partner with the Chaplain of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
The partnership aims to introduce a fellowship programme where employees will regularly gather for worship, prayers, and other spiritual activities intended to strengthen moral discipline and enhance workplace harmony.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Eyo emphasized the role of faith in building a balanced and productive workforce. “It is only a foolish man who ignores God. Even the miracle of sleeping and waking up is enough to be thankful for. When you put God first in all you do, other blessings will naturally follow,” he remarked.
Earlier, during a courtesy visit to the Commission, the State Chaplain of the NSCDC, Cross River Command, ACC Rev. Victor Ojong Okpabi (JSP), who heads the religious wing of the Corps’ Counter-Terrorism Unit, underscored the need for spiritual revival and stronger security awareness among staff.
He proposed the establishment of a Chaplaincy within the Commission, alongside the fellowship initiative, to deepen the collaboration. The partnership will also focus on staff training in key areas of security management to promote professionalism and institutional discipline.
Rev. Okpabi, who is also a member of the Nigerian Military Christian Fellowship—a forum that unites religious arms of the nation’s security agencies—said the move would foster unity and shared values among public service personnel.
The visit featured an interactive session and exchange of ideas between the two agencies, centered on enhancing productivity, spiritual growth, and inter-agency collaboration for better service delivery.
