Fubara Commissions Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters in Port Harcourt

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has commissioned the Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters in Elimgbu, Port Harcourt, describing the project as a strategic investment aimed at strengthening public service delivery in the state.

The commissioning ceremony was performed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who cut the tape to formally inaugurate the housing facility for senior civil servants.

Governor Fubara said the project was designed to provide decent, secure and comfortable accommodation for permanent secretaries, noting that improved welfare would enhance productivity, efficiency and professionalism within the public service.

He urged beneficiaries to protect and properly use the facilities, while directing the Head of Service of Rivers State to ensure effective management of the quarters through the appointment of a facility manager. The governor added that the state government plans to extend similar support to other cadres in the civil service.

The governor noted that the importance of the project was further underscored by the visit of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which he said reflects continued appreciation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support for Rivers State.

Earlier, Governor Fubara also received a federal government delegation led by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. During the engagement, he commended President Tinubu for efforts to address long-standing challenges in Ogoniland, including the inclusion of Ogoni sons and daughters in national institutions and plans to repair ageing oil facilities in the area.

The commissioning of the Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters is seen as part of the state government’s broader efforts to reposition the civil service as a key driver of effective governance and sustainable development.
