2027: Gov. Otu Calls for Calm as Aspirants Jostle for Ticket
By Ebi COLLINS
Governor Bassey Otu has called for calm and restraint among aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State as preparations intensify ahead of the party’s primary elections.
The governor’s message was conveyed by his deputy, Dr. Peter Odey, during the 1.5 million-man solidarity march held in support of President Bola Tinubu at Ikom Township Stadium.
Addressing a large gathering of party faithful and stakeholders, Odey said the governor urged all APC aspirants to remain calm, stressing the importance of unity and internal cohesion within the party.
“His Excellency has asked me to tell all APC aspirants to calm down. We belong to one political family, and at the appropriate time, all issues will be discussed and resolved,” he said.
He cautioned against internal rivalry and the use of abusive language during political engagements, urging aspirants to conduct their campaigns with maturity and respect.
“There is no need for quarrels or unnecessary arguments. Everyone has the right to aspire. Campaign for whoever you support, but do so without insults or hostility,” he added.
He further disclosed that the governor would return to the state soon and convene a meeting with stakeholders to address all outstanding issues ahead of the primaries.
“As the leader of the APC family in the state, he will sit with all aspirants and ensure that concerns across the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly are resolved amicably,” he assured.
