Oman represents Bekwarra State constituency at the Cross River House of Assembly he is first timer to the late legislature and seeking for a second term ticked in the ruling APC..

However, the constituents, mostly residents of Ukpah, on April 21, 2026 marched to Abuochiche demanding change in assembly representation.

The peaceful protesters led Comrade Thomas Akpah led by residents of Ukpah, moved round some other communities and ended up at the Council Secretariat in Abuochiche.

The protesters, made up of youths, women, and elders, carried placards with inscriptions "No second term for Omang:" You didn't meet our expectations;" and "time for a change."

They called on Governor Bassey Otu to allow them to elect somebody who will give them effective representation at the assembly, adding that forcing Omang on them would spell doom for the party.
