Tinubu Deploys Four Ambassadors Ahead of State Visit to Turkey

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has authorised the deployment of four ambassadors designate to key Nigerian diplomatic missions, as part of efforts to reposition the country’s foreign service and strengthen bilateral relations.

The development was disclosed on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, in an official statement.

According to the statement, Ambassador Ayodele Oke has been posted to Nigeria’s mission in France, while Colonel Lateef Are was approved as ambassador designate to the United States.

The President also confirmed the appointment of Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, a former envoy to South Korea, as Nigeria’s high commissioner designate to the United Kingdom.

Similarly, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, former governor of Kebbi State, has been named ambassador designate to Turkey, a country President Tinubu is expected to visit on a state engagement next week.

Onanuga explained that the postings are part of the administration’s broader diplomatic strategy aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s global presence and advancing its foreign policy objectives.

He added that the President has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to commence the necessary diplomatic processes by formally notifying the host countries of the postings in accordance with international protocol.

The four diplomats are part of the 68 ambassadorial nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate in December, marking a gradual deployment to Nigeria’s foreign missions worldwide.
