PRESS RELEASE: REP OGA CONGRATULATES FUBARA FOR DEFECTING TO APC

Senator Asuquo Awards N55m Postgraduate Scholarships to 11 Cross River South Students

Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong representing Cross River South Senatorial District at the Senate has facilitated postgraduate scholarships worth ₦55 million for 11 indigent students from the district as part of his commitment to human capital development.

The scholarship award was announced in a press statement dated December 13, 2025, signed by his Senior Legislative Aide, Mr. Ted Inyang. The statement congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to remain disciplined, focused and committed to academic excellence.

According to the statement, the beneficiaries emerged through a competitive application, screening and interview process. Each award is valued at ₦5 million and is designed to cover tuition and living expenses for one academic session in Nigerian universities, in line with approved scholarship guidelines.

Senator Asuquo expressed confidence that the scholars would apply the knowledge and skills gained from their studies to contribute meaningfully to the development of Cross River State and Nigeria.

The beneficiaries include Believe Francis Effiong and Prince Charles Itu, both studying MSc Environmental Resource Management at the University of Calabar; Asuquo Emmanuel Ekpe, Blessing B. Agbo and Oko Paul Ogwihi, all studying MSc Biochemistry at the University of Cross River State and the University of Calabar; and Evalsam Ekpe, also pursuing an MSc in Biochemistry at the University of Calabar.

Others are Eno Tony, MSc Business Administration at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; Brian Akot Ekpin Agbor, MSc Business Management at the University of Calabar; Effiom Ekeng Effiom and Dinah Awatt, both pursuing Master of Public Health degrees at the University of Calabar; and Eugene Upah, MSc Computer Science at Rivers State University.

The Senator reaffirmed his commitment to expanding educational opportunities for young people in Cross River South, describing education as a critical tool for sustainable development and social progress.
