The Nigerian Sociological and Anthropological Students Association (NSASA), University of Calabar chapter, has given Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk an award of honour in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the medical profession, health development, education and humanity at large.

Presenting the award to the recipient recently in his office in Calabar, the Association's President, Comrade Emmanuel Oko, said NSASA's decision to recognise him was necessitated by his impeccable rich track record cutting across educational support, human capital and community development, among others.

The student group prided themselves in having a distinguished personality like the Commissioner as an inspirational senior colleague, having chosen  Sociology and the prestigious University of Calabar for his PhD programme, while hoping to follow his footprints as potential sociologists.

Accepting the awards, the Health Commissioner, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk thanked the students for finding him worthy of recognition, saying the award, being the first since his appointment as Commissioner, will always be dear to his heart.

Dr. Ayuk advised students to promote health related programmes in their Association's activities, quipping that sociology as a discipline concerns itself with making society possible, with health society's fulcrum.

He assured the Association of his support, with a promise to keep his doors open to them at all time.

The Association's President was accompanied to the award presentation by his Vice Chairman, Comrade Precious Isang and Financial Secretary, Comrade Charles Undie.
