Cross River Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey, has lauded the Governor, His Excellency, Senator Bassey Otu, and the state executive council for approving the construction of the three kilometer Yache-Alifokpa road and Akreha bridge.

The state executive council, during its meeting, on Wednesday, took a very significant step towards the development of Cross River, with the Yache-Alifokpa road and Akreha bridge among projects that received council approval.

The Education Commissioner described the Governor's gesture as a demonstration of Yache people's confidence which was eloquently demonstrated at the polls by overwhelmingly and unprecedentedly giving block votes to Senator Otu, who eventually won the election in a landslide.

He said: "Our Governor, the Sweet Prince, has hearkened to the cry of my people, the Yache nation. I am astounded by this display of love and fulfillment of a dream long envisioned.

"The news of the approval for the construction of Yache-Alifokpa road and Akreha bridge has sparked wild jubilation back at home.

"While I, on behalf of the Yache nation, convey our heartfelt gratitude to the Governor, let me say, without equivocation, that this development has finally exterminated the remnants of any opposition in Yache and the entire Yala local government area," the result-oriented Commissioner stated.

The Education boss noted that the Yache-Alifokpa road, Akreha bridge and Ukelle road, when completed would aid the agrarian people of Yache to easily convey their farm products from the plantation to the semi-urban markets, thereby bringing a rippling effect on the micro economy of the Yala local government area.

Odey charged his people of Yache to continue to keep faith with the Otu-led government, as what is happening is merely a tip of the iceberg, assuring that the present administration is replete with the wherewithal to turn Yala LGA into cynosure for local commodities and commercial nerve centre of the northern senatorial district, and has demonstrated such commitment beginning with the Yache-Alifokpa, Akreha bridge and the Ukelle road in Yala LGA.
