Atiku’s Supporters Defect to APC in Abuja

A major bloc of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s northern support base has defected from the PDP to the APC ahead of the 2027 elections. 

The defectors, under the Coalition of Atiku Support Groups from the 2023 election, were received by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau in Abuja.

The group cited improved security and economic conditions under President Bola Tinubu as reasons for their switch. 

They also praised Tinubu for creating the North West Development Commission. Barau called the defection a "big catch" for the APC, while Ganduje declared it a sign of the PDP’s decline.
