FUDMA Rusticates 20 Students Over Examination Malpractice, Enforces 75% Attendance Rule

The Senate of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) has approved the rustication of 20 students for various forms of examination malpractice.

The decision was taken during the institution’s 138th Regular Senate Meeting held on March 11, 2026, at the Twin Theatre of the university’s main campus.

According to a statement from the university, the affected students were found guilty of examination misconduct after investigations by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee. The disciplinary action takes effect from the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate said the decision followed the provisions of the university’s policy on examination irregularities and academic misconduct. He commended members of the disciplinary committee for their commitment to due process, fairness and justice in handling the cases.

He explained that the sanction is intended to serve as a warning to other students against violating the institution’s examination regulations.

The university also confirmed that all the students involved were given the opportunity to appear before the disciplinary committee to defend themselves before the final decision was reached.

Meanwhile, the Senate has also directed the strict enforcement of the university’s academic policy requiring students to attain at least 75 percent lecture attendance before they are eligible to sit for examinations.

The decision was also taken at the same Senate meeting.

Under the policy, students who fail to meet the minimum lecture attendance requirement will not be permitted to write examinations.

University authorities said the enforcement of the attendance rule is expected to encourage students to take lectures more seriously and improve overall academic performance.
