Delta Govt Debunks Rumours of Former Governor Uduaghan’s Death
The Delta State Government has refuted reports circulating online claiming that former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has died.
In a statement shared on social media by the Media Aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Mr. Ossai Ovie Success, the government described the reports as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard them.
Ossai said he personally verified the claim by reaching out to the family of the former governor, adding that he spoke with Uduaghan’s daughter, Miss Orode Uduaghan, who confirmed that her father is alive and in good health.
“I have just seen reports circulating online claiming that the former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, is dead. Some people have been reaching out to me asking if the news is real,” the statement read.
He added that after contacting the family, he received confirmation that the former governor is not dead.
“I spoke directly with his daughter, Orode Uduaghan, and she confirmed that the news is false. Dr. Uduaghan is alive,” he said.
Ossai criticised the spread of unverified death rumours, describing it as irresponsible and harmful to families and the public.
“Spreading fake news about someone’s death is cruel, irresponsible, and causes unnecessary pain to the family and millions of Deltans who hold him in high regard,” he stated.
He urged members of the public and online platforms to verify information before sharing it, stressing the need for respect for human life and public figures.
“The former governor is fine and not dead,” he added, reaffirming that the rumour should be disregarded.
The clarification comes after false reports of Uduaghan’s death circulated on some online platforms, causing concern among residents before being officially dismissed by the state government.
