C’River Special Advisers Forum Celebrates Akiba’s Coronation as Otuekong 1 of Calabar South

The Cross River State Special Advisers Forum has congratulated its Chairman and Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, on his conferment with the revered traditional title of Otuekong 1 of Calabar South.
Barr. Akiba was coronated by the Paramount Ruler of Calabar South and Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty, Etubom Nyong Effiom Okon Etim Ewa I, on Monday, in recognition of his outstanding service to humanity and contributions to community development.
In a congratulatory message signed by the Forum’s Secretary, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, the group described the honour as “a fitting recognition of Barr. Akiba’s exemplary leadership, humility, and dedication to the progress of Cross River State.”
According to the statement, the Forum expressed pride in the achievements of its Chairman, noting that his new title as Otuekong 1 of Calabar South further affirms his status as a bridge-builder, patriot, and worthy son of the state whose impact continues to inspire others in governance and traditional leadership.
The Forum added that Barr. Akiba’s coronation is not only a personal honour but also a testament to the quality of leadership within the ranks of Governor Bassey Otu’s appointees, describing him as “a loyal lieutenant whose commitment to the administration’s People-First agenda remains unwavering.” The statement further commended him for his inclusive leadership style and for fostering unity among the Special Advisers in advancing the governor’s development vision.
According to Barr. Agbor, as one of the rising stars in Cross River’s political landscape, Barr. Akiba has consistently demonstrated a rare blend of intellect, humility, and administrative acumen. “His recognition by the traditional institution accentuates the harmony between government and the custodians of culture; a partnership vital for peace, development, and social stability in the state,” he stated.
The Forum also prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom, and strength for Barr. Akiba as he continues to serve the people of Cross River State with distinction and integrity.
