ADC Suspends South-South Vice Chairman Usani Over Alleged Party Misconduct

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its National Vice Chairman for the South-South, Dr. Usani Uguru Usani, over alleged violations of the party’s constitution and activities said to be detrimental to its unity and electoral prospects.

The decision followed resolutions reached at a meeting of the Cross River State Working Committee (SWC) held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

In a statement obtained in Abuja, the State Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Hon. James Otudor, explained that the action was based on several petitions and reports accusing Dr. Usani of anti-party activities, insubordination, and conduct capable of undermining the cohesion and public image of the party.

Otudor noted that the suspension would remain in effect pending the conclusion of investigations by the party’s disciplinary committee in accordance with the ADC constitution.

The SWC also faulted the appointment of Ms. Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, describing her selection as imposition without due consultation with the state chapter.

According to the committee, Ms. Wayas has not engaged the state leadership since her appointment and has failed to demonstrate commitment to the unity and growth of the ADC in Cross River State. It therefore urged the national leadership to review her appointment and replace her with a competent, credible, and media-savvy representative from the state with a proven record of loyalty to the party’s ideals.

The committee further expressed concern over some members of the Coalition Movement who had earlier declared support for the ADC but had yet to formalize their membership months after their public pledge.

It warned that the party would not tolerate dual membership or allow its platform to be used by individuals pursuing multiple partisan interests. The statement also alleged that some coalition figures who participated in ADC strategic meetings have since taken up caretaker or leadership positions in their former political parties.

The SWC directed all coalition leaders and intending members to regularize their registration at the ward level within seven days, ending Saturday, October 25, 2025, or risk exclusion from leadership and decision-making processes.

Reaffirming its loyalty to the ADC’s national leadership, the Cross River State chapter assured members of its commitment to providing credible leadership and building a people-oriented political alternative across the South-South.

“We urge all members to remain calm, law-abiding, and steadfast as the party’s internal mechanisms for discipline, justice, and accountability take their full course,” the statement added.
