Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Creektown Parish Marks 175th Anniversary

The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Creektown Parish, has celebrated its 175th anniversary with thanksgiving, songs of praise, and reflections on its long history of faith and service. The event, held in Creektown, Odukpani Local Government Area, was attended by worshippers, community leaders, and government officials.
The Executive Chairman of Odukpani Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Etim Asido, who represented the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, at the celebration was accompanied by a delegation of political appointees who joined in the historic occasion.
In his speech, Hon. Asido commended the church for its resilience and lasting influence in the community. “The Presbyterian Church has stood the test of time for 175 years. Through challenges and changes, you have remained a strong pillar of faith, peace, and unity in our land. This is no small achievement, and we celebrate it with you today,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to the congregation for their continuous devotion. “Your commitment to the mission and vision of the church is what has kept this parish alive for nearly two centuries. I thank every member—past and present—for their sacrifices and faithfulness,” he added.
Hon. Asido further encouraged the church to remain steadfast in its values. “The role of the church in shaping morals and guiding society cannot be overstated. I urge you to continue building love, togetherness, and spiritual growth in this community. That is how the next generations will also look back with gratitude,” he said.
Offering prayers on behalf of the Governor, he said: “May the Almighty God continue to bless this church, its leaders, and members. May He grant you strength and grace to celebrate many more anniversaries in good health and prosperity.”
