World Humanitarian Day: C'River Poised To Address Challenges

As the state joins the world in commemorating the global Humanitarian Day today, the Cross River Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. (Mrs.) Helen Isamoh Egodo has stated the state resolve to address urgent threats and challenges posed to victims of communal clashes,flood, erosion, rainstorm, climate change, windstorms, drought, disease, hunger and internal displacement.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner and made available to newsmen Mrs Egodo affirmed the State Government's commitment to reduce the effects of challenges in this direction.
She said the theme of the 2023 World Humanitarian Day is "no matter who, no matter where, no matter what" aims to educate the people on issues of concern, mobilize political will and resources to address global problems, especially people needing Humanitarian assistance and protection due to natural disasters and inter -tribal conflicts amongst others.
The towering politician said as pioneer commissioner in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in the state she would celebrate the day with a reinforcement of determination and combining efforts towards a safer and prosperous Cross River.
She said the Ministry under her would pay particular attention to emerging issues by facilitating the return and rehabilitation of internally Displaced Person's, IDPs and provide needed support to the increasing number of orphans and widows in the state.
The Commissioner stated that government will continue to stand with Humanitarian aid workers and recognize their tremendous service and sacrifices while also appreciating their efforts to save lives, preserve humanity and alleviate suffering.
She promised to work with international and local Humanitarian and development bodies for their support in complementing efforts to combat Humanitarian problems and appealed for cooperation from partners.
